This class includes both a classroom and on-water component designed to aid the scout in completing the Whitewater Merit Badge.
The classroom work (approx 2 hours) must be completed prior to the on-water instruction.
Note: This class covers Whitewater Merit Badge Requirements 4-13.
Scouts should complete Requirements 1-3 prior to attending this class.
All scouts should be able to swim and feel comfortable in moving water.
Scouts must fully participate in the on-water activities and pass a written test to earn the Certification of Completion.

This school is designed to teach you the basics of raft guiding.
The first half of the class consists of 3 full days of on-water and classroom work, designed to get you in the back of a boat as quickly as possible.
The remaining 3 days are spent 'on the stick', that is, in the back of a boat, with customers.
Topics covered include boat control, river reading skills, customer service/handling, basic river rescue techniques.

Note: Candidates for employment at Sheltowee Trace Adventure Resort may take the guide training class at a reduced rate of $100/person. However, employment is not guaranteed and is dependent on the candidate's attitude and progress during the class.
