• Approx 1.5-2 hour trip • Meets at the river access area at the Blue Heron Mining Community. (Please note that this is approx an hour from our main location.) • Single or double tubes available • Trips must be booked in advance and all registration completed before the trip. Any payments taken within the park boundaries are charged a 3% fee.
The trip starts and ends at the Blue Heron Mine interpretive area in the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area.
The 1½ - 2 hour trip covers about a mile of river and includes several Class I and one Class II rapid (Joe Shoals).
The Blue Heron Mine interpretive area is a partially restored mining town with a self-paced walking tour.
Doing the tour either before or after the tube trip makes for a very pleasant afternoon.

Laze your way down the Cumberland River, shooting through narrow tubes and enjoying the underwater rock formations.
This tube trip floats the section of river immediately above Cumberland Falls; the take-out is 1/4 mile above the falls. Because of this, it is only available when the Cumberland river levels are low.
The 1 - 1.5 hour trip covers 1/2 -3/4 mile of river. The trip meets at the upper end of the parking lot at Cumberland Falls State Resort Park. the driver will drive you upstream to one of the possible put-ins. You can also take the trail along the river to put in further upstream if you would prefer.
Walk down to the river and wade out to where the water runs deeper and swifter, or hang out in the shallow areas and enjoy the warm water and the sun!
The take-out is just after the bridge, near the parking area where you left your vehicle.
