Kayaking for Kids

The eighth Annual Kayaking for Kids event, sponsored by Whitley County Tourism and the Whitley County Fiscal Court will be held Saturday, August 3rd, 2024. 

This is a fun race along the Cumberland River from Croley Bend to Red Bird Boat Ramp, which is an 8.5 mile section.

The race will start at Croley Bend and end at the Red Bird Boat Ramp. Registration will open at 8am at the fairgrounds with race time at 10am. If you are renting a kayak, please be at Red Bird Boat Ramp at 8am to catch the shuttle to Croley Bend. Paddlers with their own boats will drop them at the Croley Bend at 8am, and then drive to Red Bird Boat Ramp to catch the shuttle back to Croley Bend leaving at approximately 8:30 am and 9:30 am.

Pricing for Canoe/kayak rentals are as follows:

• Adults (ages 13 and up): $30/person
• Youth (ages 6-12): $25/person
• Children (Ages 5 and under): $20/person
• Solo boats are an additional $10/person
